Hi,

Sorry to drag up an old thread just wanted to know if anyone else had this problem and add my 2 cents worth. I have been searching to see if anyone has this same problem issue, and stumbled on this post (probably the only post I can  freally find). I regularly send items that fit under the 20mm limit in prepaid envelopes or padded envelopes. However once or twice a month I get buyers that are charged random amounts on pickup from their post office (usually $5.20 underpaid small parcel rate). Again this is for items sent as large letters and that fit under the 20mm. My address is always provided on the back with printed labels. The odd thing is I occasionally also get a central office over charges for the same items (effectively double charged). I assume occasionally the contents can move in some way that they become parcels? Though even this I find a bit of a stretch to explain why they do this? Talking with Auspost they assure me that my customers would not be charged if I had a clear printed return address, obviously this isn’t that case and over enthusiastic? uninformed? employees sometimes whack these stickers on (regardless if they are correct or not). I have found that this happened more with certain post offices, that one or two have been repeat offenders. I assume these must be franchise offices? maybe looking to make a quick buck? I guess what I have got from all this is that no one is really in charge at Auspost, You can talk to central office but employees, offices, etc all make up their own rules from time to time and there isn’t much that can be done about it. I always refund my customers if this happens and it’s just an unfortunate part of business if choosing to send things as large letter. Cheers Chris
