I feel sorry for people selling wedding dresses, whether they be new or second hand. Buyer buys the dress for their wedding, has their wedding, no longer has a use for the dress, so demands a refund. Try and tell me people won't try and pull that stunt, especially if they pay a lot for it.

When I was young, I used to work part time in a clothing store and sometimes there would be women who came in with outfits they had bought the previous week and you could tell they had been worn.

In one case, the woman had even taken up the hem of the evening gown and there were big sweat stains under the arms.

Yet she expected all her money back.

It was a small private business, most times the boss gave the benefit of the doubt and refunded, sometimes he didn't. He didn't that time and I didn't blame him.

I think it is unreasonable to buy something eg second hand, and expect a 6 month warranty on it. I don't think you even get that with second hand cars, let alone a second hand dress or a bike or whatever else people buy. What if you sold a second hand item in good working order and it broke down 5 months down the track? What if someone wore a second hand frock for months then it got a small hole?

I came on the boards here mainly to get a feel for how ebay had changed since I used to sell a decade ago (under a different name), and how things worked now, but I don't think I will be returning as a seller. My sister and I were always honest, gave a detailed description, were fair to people if there was a problem, but generally speaking, once an item was sold, that was pretty well the end of it.

Wouldn't want to have sale money 'pending' for 6 months.

I'll try selling elsewhere, i think.Woman Happy
