Springy, I think that still goes on now, even more than ever. You sometimes see girls out for a night on the town, with a tag hanging out the back of their dress. Not all of them could have forgotten to remove the tag.

My step daughter knows people who will 'buy' a dress for a night out, leave the tag on, then take it back Monday for a change of mind refund, or because it 'didn't fit'. They are the type of people who can only ever wear something once. Won't be seen dead in the same outfit twice. Some will even do it with shoes too. They'll wear old shoes until they arrive, then change into the new ones when they walk in. Having carpet on the floors stops the bottoms from scuffing.

I think it's even easier now that venues are all non smoking inside. Back when I was young, it would have been much harder to return a worn dress because everything stank of smoke.

I was at a wedding years ago and a lady at my table was wearing a VERY expensive high end dress. A few of us commented on how lovely it was and how good she looked in it. Someone said that it must have cost her a pretty penny. She said it did, but when she takes it back on Monday for a refund, it won't have cost her a cent. She couldn't understand after that why everyone else at the table stopped talking to her.

I wonder how these types of people get on if they spill something on the outfit they were planning on returning?
