Technical problems with these boards - November 2021 update

There remain some technical issues with these boards.

 

1. The mobile version of these boards still has only bare-bones posting options.

As you can see, on the mobile (phone) version,

  • there is no font size icon;    countessalmirena_5-1636024808572.png
  • there is no text colour icon;    countessalmirena_6-1636024852588.png
  • there is no insert emoji icon;    countessalmirena_7-1636024895284.png (I'm not personally bothered by this, but others may be)
  • there is no insert video icon;    countessalmirena_8-1636024934322.png
  • the insert photos icon on the mobile/phone version    countessalmirena_10-1636025066339.png  is inconsistent with the one used on the desktop version of the boards;    countessalmirena_11-1636025122971.png
  • and crucially, there is no three dots symbol with the "expand toolbar" option    countessalmirena_9-1636024968045.png(which means that that there is no expanded toolbar with the further options, shown below).

2. Users' personal avatars have ceased working on these boards.

 

I have already posted about this on the Community Feedback board:

Of course, in the scheme of things, it's no huge issue. However, if it can be fixed, it would be nice to see that done. Personalised avatars help to differentiate between posters. (Someone changed the forum theme to "candy", hmmm?)

 

 

I am wondering - and I suppose other users are also wondering - why these issues (in particular the lack of post formatting options in the mobile versions of these boards) have not been fixed, when today we see a purple/plum colour scheme change on the boards. Is a change of colour really so necessary that the IT dept have spent time on that in lieu of the lack of functionality to which I've referred?

 

I humbly request that the issues I've mentioned be addressed, if possible.

I missed the plum background, still only seeing white.

 

The issue I'm having is, my settings are set to take me to the first unread message in an active thread. That isn't happening. It takes me to the last post in a thread. I didn't realise this was happening until the posts I was reading made no sense, or had a "quoted" post that I hadn't seen. I scrolled up, and sure enough, here's all these posts I hadn't seen. So, most of the time, I have to scroll up to read unread posts. It's becoming quite a pain in the proverbial.

 

I really wish they'd stop tinkering and fix the problems first, instead of trying to "improve" things.

Thought it was just me.   Glad it's not.

 

A lot of scrolling being done here, and heartily sick of it.

Well, point 2 (personal avatars not appearing) is fixed.

 

Point 1 is not fixed. The mobile version is still bare-bones without the options available in the desktop version.

 

Soi-disant point 3 (or point 3 in retrospect), which is about being taken to the last post rather than the last UNREAD post, is not fixed as yet (for me).

 

 

Thank you for point 2 and I hope that the other more important coding/rendering is next on the list...?
