No it's isn't if he stood in parliament and cast racist homophobic slurs on the PM of this country.

He stood up in parliament and cast these putrid slurs, he didn't dare say any of this outside of Parliamentary privilege.

It was a racist insulting speech and instead of looking at what he said people should look at what he stands for.

It wasn't a vitriolic speech silver, it was very honest and matter of fact

are you sure we're talking aboiut the same speech here??

silverfaun, the thread is about a speech isn't it? and how and where was this speech "racist",  "putrid slurs", "racist homophobic slurs" - where?

I just watched it to see what all the hullabaloo was about.

It was racist and homophobic and vitriol. Strangely delivered in rather an unenthusiastic and dispassionate manner by a rather anaemic looking man groomed to perfection, reading his speech off as if he'd seen it for the first time. Also he appeared to be speaking to no-one in particular.

It actually read better in Faun's OP than it was spoken, when I finally saw it on Bolt this morning, lol.

It did however have a kernel of truth in it, as Cassandra Wilkinson said on Bolt this morning, people of Australia do want to know why they're being priced out of affordable housing and losing their jobs to overseas manufacturing.

icyfroth,

Prob not what they want to hear on here though. Common sense and calling it for what it is is not what most on here got out of it.

They concentrated on the sickening Abbott bashing and racist slurs because that's what they want to hear.

Bolt played selected segments, not the speech.

The speech was in no way racist or homophobic.

It's interesting that while Labor and Labor and the Indies were in office Bolt's excuse for his vitriol was that he had to hold the government to account.  If that's the case why is he not interested in holding this government to account.  All his attacks are now on those in opposition. It's just an LNP advertorial.

I'm sure the two panelists watched the whole speech and certainly didn't have to be spoon fed to see it for what it was. A despicable cowardly racist, homophobic slur on the serving PM of this country.

How come there's no outrage for this??  is it because he's not a woman and a Labor PM.? because there certainly would be plenty of outrage if she was slimed in such a manner,  and,  this was done on the Parliament floor no less, and yet the majority who have replied to this post support him and his actions show no distaste at all.

Well if it was as you insist - a  "racist, homophobic slur", I  wait with interest for when he is charged with making a "hate speech", then I am sure the likes of bolt will be out protesting against the right of  "freedom of speech" - can't wait.

Yes, the "thanks" said it all.
.

I'd hate to see the outrage such a speech would've engendered if it was aimed at Ms Gillard, for example.

there was no gender bias or quiet chauvinism. where did he attack abbott on his gender ? where was the degrading witch sign ?

Yes so would I.

The thing is, such a speech would never be aired at Julia Gillard because she's not racist or homophobic, nor did she rely on shallow three word slogans. She wasnt a politician who sacrificed the betterment of a nation by killing jobs, the environment and our way of life, simply to support a mystical & false ideology that helping billionaires get richer will result in a stronger economy. We all know it won't. Billionaires who get richer simply ship the money out. Australian corporate culture does not include social responsibility.

She did, however, have to put up with death threats, misogyny, crude signs and filthy cartoons. I didn't notice any outrage from you about that.

Nor would you have Karen, as I was very admiring of her misogyny speech at the time and said so, if you cast your mind back.
