THE parents of a three-year-old boy watched in horror as a fox knocked their son to the ground and dragged him away after it got a hold of his leg.
The father of young Tom Harvey had to use a block of wood to fend off the fox, which remained detemined and “would not back off”.
David Harvey, of Sunnyside, near Tenterfield, said he and his wife, Jane, and family were at home watching a fox from their kitchen window on Monday night when their two older children, Sarah, 5, and Tom, 3, ran out to see the animal at closer range.
“We looked out the window and Tom was being dragged by this fox,” Mr Harvey said.
“I followed straight out, but the fox wouldn’t back off – he wanted Tom.
“I got hold of Tom and was trying to keep the fox away from him. He was a mess.
"The fox had bitten his leg to bring him down and grabbed onto his shoulder. He got a couple of punctures on both sides of his shoulder.”
