he may well have done something in the future like monis did in the lyndt cafe, i dont know i cant see into the future.

i just dont call him a terrorist on the evidence released so far. saying he said he suported IS isnt enough.

it just looked like a guy who was off his nut (possibly on crack, i dont know) and killed someone. its happening a lot these days. we dont call all of them terrorists.

the guy who shot the police officer dead a few days ago, had he yelled 'this is for alla!' as he was shooting would we call him a terrorist? he didnt and we arnt.

we have a legal system that cannot jail people for what they 'might' do. it would be very easy to make laws to jail people we think might do 'something' in the future. but i think the law makers know we would need lots more jails, lots more courts, lots more judges ect ect.

whos going to pay for all that? its not going to get you re elected when you raise taxes to cover the bill. and i suspect you would end up relesing 99% of the people you locked up for lack of evidence.

i heard on radio this morning they released 12 of the people they arested without charge over night. i think thats the UK police. prolly because they cant lock people up without proof they are guilty of a crime.

i dont envy the authorities, they are in a no win situation. they prolly have lots of people they know could do a terror attack but until they do the police are helpless.

I get what you are saying, i really do. The authorities have a hard job trying to please everyone and put a damper on panic & vigilantism (if there is such a word).

but I do think there was more to this man than just being a nutter. Too many of these violent people blame drugs and I am over that. It should not be an extenuating circumstance.

This man

-had previously planned an attack an army base (although he got off the charges. I'd say he was guilty though)

-had trained with terrorist forces overseas

-had been jailed here for 5 years for a violent house invasion (although he got out early of course)

-was on a terror list but that info wasn't shown to the parole board

Is he a citizen here? Was he born here?

If not, why wasn't he deported?

How about we tighten up our citizenship, make it probationary for 10 years, with serious crime convictions nullifying it?

If he & his ilk are not ours, let some other country put up with them, we shouldn't have to.

I know I sound draconian but I live in a peaceful suburb but one with about 27 on the terror watch list. A couple of years back the local shopping centre had graffiti calling for non believers to be killed. A group also planned to bomb Fountain Gate shopping centre-they were caught beforehand but you won't have read of it. I'm over it. If refugees and new citizens cannot behave, have a consequence, deport them. At the moment, too many crimes have very little consequence.
