As mentioned in an earlier post, I work for the government and am partially paid from tax payer funds. I donate between 2 and 3 thousand a year to an animal charity, because I know that 100% goes to the animals. I know that because I have known the person who runs it for about 40 years. She had to jump through hoops to become a registered charity. I donate money from my tax payer funded pay. It is my right to do that.

I claim that amount every year on my tax and whatever I get back from my tax for my donation, goes straight back to the charity. I've turned it into a revolving door. So in effect, while I'm making a substantial donation (substantial by my standards), it's really the tax payer that is paying for it because I am claiming it each year.

It's no different to the AP CEO. He is free to donate HIS money to whoever he likes. Would it be such a hoo haa if he decided to donate the money to the Catholic church, or the Salvo's?

I think the problem with X3 is, he just hates everything and anything to do with AP and is trying to get everyone else to feel the same way. Even if it means fabricating stories in the process.

Spoiler
I need a new roll of foil!

".. Would it be such a hoo haa if he decided to donate the money to the Catholic church, or the Salvo's?"

no ..

"I claim that amount every year on my tax and whatever I get back from my tax for my donation, goes straight back to the charity. I've turned it into a revolving door. you have donated to a worthy cause *tippy*toes* and the double shuffle repeat thing getting the taxpayer co-payment repeatedly idea is superb .. all I have to say about that is tax law is pretty cool ..

so I was thinking I will look at making the Cabbage Patch Doll Museum a cultural exchange thing and opening shop at the back of Aunty Alice's parking station business .. thanks for the tips ..

"I think the problem with X3 is, he just hates everything and anything to do with AP and is trying to get everyone else to feel the same way."

This is a tough accusation to swallow .. no that is not entirely true .. I love Australia Post .. auspost; red and blue arms and all .. not so much .. I admit I am a not a believer ..

"Even if it means fabricating stories in the process."

ah ha .. thats all the proof I need *tippy*toes* .. it was you that gave my picture to padi*0409

"But I can tell you why there is no calculator on the StarTrack website.....because they do not deal with the general public who want the cheapest price to send a 7kg guitar case or a 10kg Roadcase or a birthday gift to Aunty Alice.
If you want a price to send one off items you need to go to a courier broker like Temando and send it with StarTrack through them."

So this Tremedo you speak of .. it gets a cut of the action too? .. and you implied there are other 'blue arm' booking companies that will get my roadcase and guitar to Aunty's place? .. have heard nothing about this .. how many of these new 'blue arm' freight booking companies does auspost own these days? .. I have heard some people say that these new booking companys can be cheaper than Auspost rates, that can't be right?, can you confirm any of that for me? .. funny setup .. a puzzler .. very helpful info though .. Aunty Alice is stoked .. thanks Lyndal ..

Temando has nothing to do with Australia Post or StarTrack.

As I said, they are a courier broker and also a client of StarTrack as well as a number of other courier companies.

If you want to find out more about them look it up for yourself.

There are a number of courier brokers who are just that....brokers who will find a well priced courier service for the customers needs.

They are not agents for AP or StarTrack.

Depending on their turnover it is possible that they are getting better rates and will pass it on to their customers.

Hi everyone, the discussion is getting a little heated.  Please be sure to keep your communications civil.  Thanks!

http://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/australia-post-boss-ahmed-fahour-eyes-role-in-medicar...

So if I am understanding this correctly; Auspost CAN NOT book a parcel for its 100% acquisition Startrack Express to carry (the so called 'BLUE ARM' of auspost) but it can be used to tear Medicare a new one .. can anyone else see a problem? or is it just me? .. if you read the article it becomes clear the plan is for auspost to not deliver letters after 2020 .. so once auspost has ditched their letter service I guess with all the China Post large letter mail coming in at the new parcel rate that will cause problems with parcels and then auspost will have to stop delivering parcels too ..

.. if you look at the 7.30 report interview with Turnbull (the one talked about at length in this post here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh_zk-nHY90  ) you will hear Turnbull (then communications minister) explain that the recent letter rate price rises are designed to send a price signal to dissuade people from posting letters via auspost at all, not one day a week delivery service, just no letters sent/delivered via auspost full stop. .. you have been warned ..

I say this is obviously some bottom of the harbour malthusian scheme "they" are cooking up to profiteer from the systematic destruction of Australian society via 100% privatisation of all government utilities (for their multi national corporate invester mates) ..

"Malthusian"- that's a bigger word than marmalade !!

Yes.     Why use a big word, when a monosyllabic one will suffice?

Spasmodic dysphonia is what I just got trying to read all these big words

You're not supposed to read them out loud - that should fix your problem
