I had a fairly non descript item showing over 5000 views recently. It climbed to this over a couple of days and then didnt move at all for the rest of the auction. This was definately a glitch.

Some of the old motor cycles and cars I have sold have had over 1000 genuine views and over 100 genuine watchers...
