I've seen plenty of wrong advice given in these forums over time!

As for 'chatting with sellers' and customers, I get a lot of messages and reply but I keep it all above board and haven't had any problems. I recognise that one day I could be blamed for someone a potential customer does that's out of my control but there's no point worrying about something I have no control over.

I would never use ebay messaging to chat with other sellers! That's just asking for trouble.

BUT THERE"S NO POINT WORRYING ABOUT SOMETHING I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER !!!

I suspect brerrabbit has hit on an important part of the secret to succesfully engaging with ebay right there.

I used to get angry at being shafted by ebay customers and was a vocal opponent of some of ebays more extreme and unfair policies ( such as commission on postage costs etc. )  NOW............ I just dont care anymore.

Ebay will continue on its merry little way, with or without me. It will ignore a groundswell of seller anger at policy changes if it suits them and the buyer is always right. Even when proven wrong and CS can see this in black and white.   SO.. how is getting all hot and bothered going to change anything. All it will do is raise my blood pressure, make me grumpy with the family and contribute to me hating my job as an ebay seller, rather than enjoying it most of the time. Result I lose, and ebay doesnt even notice. My little pittance in sales isnt being carefully monitored by ebay exec.s in San Francisco and if I storm off in a huff there will be four new sellers to take my place.

The only way i have found to cope with all the carp that goes on is to adopt a high profit margin, low care factor model. That doesnt mean I supply dodgy products or dupe my customers. It means I try to find that Zen moment when the next ebay storm hits and make enough money from each sale that I can afford to take a little hit now and again without suffering too much financial pain.

It might not suit everyone, BUT IT WORKS FOR ME !.........
