When several of our local op shops start putting up "50% off everything" signs, you get the impression it's across the board and yes, July sales for us have been pretty dismal.  Election, winter, tax time, school holidays it's been a disruptive quarter... excellent time to buy a new car, dealers are bleeding bad.

When op shops have sales it's more likely that they've been getting way too much stock in, which is probably because people buy so many new clothes they can't fit them in their wardrobe.  When the economy is bad, op shop sales don't slow, they increase.

Thats exactly what is happening at the moment. my sister in law manages two Op Shops for a church charity group. They are getting more donations than they can handle and are giving donated stock free to the larger chain op shops just to move it on. Their sales are up around 10% above average at the moment.

As for my ebay sales. They are ticking along reasonably well and get an instant kick up when I take the time to list new stock. All up I,m reasonably happy with my ebay sales considering things are tight in the economy at the moment.
