Thanks for the question. Using your example, As a private seller, If I sell an item for $8.00 now with a further $8.00  postage. My existing FVF would be around 80 cents. ( Rouded up, but lets keep it simple ). Under ebays new FVF on postage I will pay 80 cents commission on the item sold and another 80 cents commision on the postage. This is not a 10% increase in commisions to ebay, it is a 100% increase.  To use another example, If I sell an item for $24 now, with your $8.00 post example, I currently pay $2.40 commision to ebay. Under the new FVF on postage I will pay the $ 2.40 commision on the item PLUS 0.80 cents on the $8.00 postage. This is an increase of 33.3% on current fees. There are many more cheaper items on ebay than expensive ones and postage makes up a higher % of item cost. I know there are so many variables ( cheaper commisions for stall holders, variable postage costs incl. International postage, the ratio of low to high value items etc. ) that we mere mortals are never going to know the exact figure that ebay will increase its commisions by with the FVF on postage, but it is going to be a heck of a lot more than 10%. The people who will be most affected are small private sellers as they are generally the people listing the cheaper items and low start auctions..
