Many of us on the Conservative side of politics often complained that GetUp was an ALP funded initiative to manipulate the young people into voting for the left...
we were laughed at and told that we were making up stories....
Well.. the truth always pops up...
Simon Sheikh was a Labor Party member at the time he was appointed national director of self-described "independent" advocacy group GetUp! in September 2008.
He got huge amounts in funding and often supported ALP or attacked the LNP... it was often said that GetUp was one sided and not independent and when those claims were made it was shot down as a conspiracy theory by those on the right...
He was a Labor Party Member... simple... he was politically aligned and so is GetUp...

simon is not the director of GetUp. he left the position some time ago. the libs of course have support and guidance from the IPA and other right wing think tanks. labor is not allowed to have support from anyone of course. a lot of GetUp initatives are in fact at odds with the ALP. . everything apart from the LNP is evil of course. one thing GetUp hasn't done is set out to destroy an Australian political party in the sneaky illegal manner Mr Abbott and the liberal dirty tricks unit did to the One Nation party. i found one nation repellent, but i dont think an illegal act orchestrated through secret slush funds is becoming of a potential PM. criminal acts from MP's ought not to be tolerated and swept under the carpet. Abbott should stand down until the case is dealt with.

Poisonous little toad. Now he's deleted twits & lied till he's black in the face saying he wasn't a Labor member.
The Greens are welcome to him.

Do you have anything that actually shows he was a Labor member?

Begging for "Proof" again. Please do some reading instead of spending all your time on here asking others.

Google is your friend and it really is very easy to do a search.... BUT it sounds better to ask all the time for proof..
ALP boss: Simon Sheikh in party for four years
NSW Labor secretary Sam Dastyari has declared in writing that party records show ACT Greens Senate candidate Simon Sheikh was a financial member of the Labor Party for four years.
The statement, provided to The Australian yesterday, came as Mr Sheikh contradicted his previous claim to have been a Labor Party member for only one year.
Mr Dastyari said yesterday: "Simon first joined the Labor Party on 2 April, 2004, and terminated his membership, via contacting the ALP office, on 26 November, 2008.
"Simon was a financial member for the duration of that period, with a brief period of being unfinancial, when his credit card details were rejected in late 2005."
It also confirms that Mr Sheikh was a Labor Party member at the time he was appointed national director of self-described "independent" advocacy group GetUp! in September 2008.
Last week, Mr Sheikh claimed on his website that he was "a member of the Labor Party for a year" but "quickly became disillusioned and left" the party.
Yesterday, he told Fairfax Media that "I was a member for two years", based on email correspondence he had received from the party's receptionist, whom he had contacted personally.
