Seller refurbishment of electrical item, Hows that work as they are not approved by product maker?

As stated.

A seller on ebay is selling Computer parts that he says is seller refurbished, I asked what the maker of the product has done in the refurbishment and does he have proof, he did not answer, I then sent one demanding to know or he will be reported as he seemed deceptive.

He then replied with what he has done him self and he is not approved by the maker of the product to do so which I assume will void warranty.

Is this Allowed as it seems misleading and of course you might not get warranty later if they know its been tampered with??

Of course there is no where on Fleabay to report this......... like most breeches

Agree with Horizon. Whilst it's quite common for computers to be refurbished by amatuer 'techies', unless you know them yourself or know them by reputation, it's always a risk to purchase such 'refurbished' computers.

As for seller being deceptive because he refurbished the item himself, if he stated in the listing that it was 'seller refurbished' then that in itself is not at all deceptive. If he also stated in the listing that it came with manufacturer warranty, but if as it transpired his diy refurbishment voided that warranty then that would be deceptive.

Even when the manufacturer/brand name owner  sells refurbished products ( ones that people have returned as faulty and they fix them)  they don't come with a full warranty. Usuallly limited to a certain number of months. The refurbished item is of course sold at a much lower cost,, maybe 50% less than a brand new item.

Please see the seller’s listing for full details.

Seller refurbished
