how do i switch back to united states buying. Some how my account changed to Australian

You are on the Australian site ebay.com.au . Just go to ebay.com and you will be right.

log out of ebay.com.au

open a window to ebay.com

sign in

You don't need to log out and log back in. You just need to remove the .au from the address bar.

i thought maybe somehow his browser had him locked to the aussie site so logging out, closing the browser then opening a new one to the U.S. site and then logging in might reset everything.

Nah, sometimes it just changes for no apparent reason.
