seller stole my money

Purchased and paid for a Nikon camera, listing now removed and seller unregistered from Ebay. No repsonse from him and now very similiar camera has been relisted with seller feedback (0) as previous seller. Suburb doesn't even exist in QLD as listed but in VIC where the camera I purchased was from. Why do people do this!!! How do they get away with it!!!

Trust you paid by PayPal so you can get your money back?

Higher end cameras are a favorite for scammers.

Did you pay by Paypal? If so have you opened a Paypal claim for item not received?

Your money hasn't exactly been stolen, either you paid with Paypal and will get your money back as long as you follow the correct procedure or you effectivelly donated the money if you paid by any other method.  If that is the case then you can report the seller to the on line auction fraud report site which does not guarantee you will get your money back but may prompt the seller to do the right thing if they are even in Australia but it could well be a hi-jacked account.
