seeking to return it as it's not working in my bike have spoken to the seller and he has asked for me to make a claim through eBay
the item number will not allow this to proceed?

I assume you must use an item number with all digits, not xxxx. Look back at the listing for the item number.

Also, if you start a claim from your list of purchases it should work without inserting the item number. Is the item still there? When did you buy it?

Did the item arrive broken, did you order the wrong part, or did the seller send the wrong part?
If you've ordered the wrong thing, the seller shouldn't be responsible.
Need a bit more info first.

Is the item still within the time frames for a dispute to be opened ? 30 days after the final ETA for eBay and 180 days after the purchase date with Paypal.
