This was my fathers.

I know he was very active in freemasonry.

He was also fasinated by ancient Egypt

I believe it's an Ankh, which was the the symbol of life and immortality carried by the ancient Egyptian Gods.

Thanks. It certainly has the elements of the ankh, but the triangle and central design seem to go further.

Indeed it does, and may even have something to do with the freemasonry in which your father was involved but unfortunately I have no knowledge of the secret rituals that freemasonry employed although I suspect that the additional design elements could well be significant in that regard.
