I have a set of Fairbanks scales i just want to know , In what occupational field they might have been used, age ,value.
The scales have embossing and it says. " Fairbanks toweigh 7Lbs" has no weights with it just the scales. Cheers. Any information would be much appreciated Thank you .

This type is apparently known as equal arm counter scales - because it typically sat on a counter. As it has flat slabs, rather than shaped pans, it would have been used for parcels/boxes sort of thing rather than dry goods in a shop or kitchen (which used pans.) If you are thinking of selling it, "rustic" scales seem to have a price, regardless of condition - possibly something under $35. Because of weight of course it has to be pickup only, which does limit the potential buyer base.
