Love 'The Lady of Shallott' by John William Waternhouse.
Trailing her doona in the river. Saw the original in Sydney about 35 years ago, before it was whisked back to London.

I really like the modern and 'rural' painting from artist Michael McWilliams (Tasmania).
His sense of humour and love of the country shines through in what I would call an 'immediate' way. Very different.
The Impressionists are wonderful, but I don't like or appreciate the late works of artists like Picasso.

Yes, they might look stunnng in real life rather than on screen but I would still fiind them boring if they were the only artworks in the house.

HA... hubby and i were looking at a framed print of The Lady of Shallott yesterday in an antique shop in Canberra. I remarked on it.
I just showed him your post.... Cant believe that you have just happened to post that very artwork.
I didnt buy it, but i did admire it.
