Haven for shysters, thugs, bullies etc.

The Royal Commission into our unions reveals that the union movement has been a magnet for the most undesirable members of our community.

TURC report recommends criminal charges for some union officials

THE highly-anticipated royal commission into union corruption has identified “widespread” and “deep-seated” misconduct by officials and some private companies.

In the six-volume document released this morning Commissioner Dyson Heydon found Australia’s trade unions welcomed “louts, thugs, bullies, thieves, perjurers, those who threaten violence, errant fiduciaries and organisers of boycotts.”

But Labor Employment and Workplace Relations spokesman Brendan O’Connor has labelled the commission a “politically-motivated witch-hunt” and said the report was “full of supposition”.

“The Commissioner himself has made very clear that he has relied on hearsay evidence and, indeed, that the royal commission is not a court of law,” he said.

“He makes it very clear in this report that these matters are not matters that are before a court, that the rules of evidence need not apply, and therefore any findings by this Commission must be understood in that context.”

I would paste more of the story but it is depressing.

It's OK VP we have to deal with bad news. Give us some of the words used in the story:

Examples of potential misconduct uncovered by the royal commission this year alone include:

— A CFMEU ACT official admitted to receiving $100,000 worth of secret payments from employers.

— CFMEU QLD official received $150,000 worth of free work on his home.

— Payments of $25,000 per year to the AWU by an employer following a deal that saved the company $2 million a year.

— Removal and disposal of documents by the CFMEU in QLD.

— Payments by Thiess John Holland to the AWU of $100,000 per year, supported by false invoices.

— Secret and possible unlawful cash payments of $2,500 per week to CFMEU NSW organiser.

— The purchase of two luxury cars by the Transport Workers Union in WA for the personal benefit of officials.

It's vomit stuff.

Its only what everybody  knew for years.  Glad the criminal behaviour will at last be addressed but the labor party and the unions will squeal like pigs.
