Medford Cop Saves Man

MEDFORD, Ore. -- An 80-year-old man and his wife say he is alive today because of the simple, but life saving act of an off-duty Medford Police Officer.

On Saturday, Darell Edwards and his wife, Phyllis, were eating at the Roadhouse in West Medford when he started choking on a piece of meat.

His wife said she could tell he was choking, and tried to perform the heimlich maneuver, but was not pushing hard enough the break the food loose.

That's when Greg Nichols, an off-duty Medford Police officer stepped in.

He was eating at the restaurant with his family at a nearby table when he saw the two struggling and stepped in to perform the heimlich maneuver.

"The policeman noticed and came running over and we're eternally grateful for that. He saved his life you might as well say,"

While the couple is calling Officer Nichols a hero, he says it was just about being prepared with first aid and CPR training.

No doubt Joanie has a youtube video of this officer assaulting an elderly man.........
