Paypal Scam - be careful and do not open.

Tonight I received an email from Paypal telling me;

You sent a payment of $53.19 to eBay International AG (AU-ebay-eom-fees-admin@ebay.com)

I did not click on the link in the email to contact Paypal

I do not owe ebay any fees. Have not sold anything for over 12 month, and even do not have $50.+ in my Paypal account. I contacted Paypal through my account, and gave them the Transaction number in the email. I am convinced it is a scam, so please be careful with claims of ebay fees through Paypal.

Yes, Erica, it is definitely a spoof email....I had one too and I have never sold anything on ebay.

Just delete and ignore it.

This morning before i came in here--had a email from paypal.

No money mentioned -just about being able to edit in the future.

Would this be ok or a scam?..........................................Richo.

Richo, if the email does not address you with your name, it is not from Paypal.

Even if I get an email from them, I never open a link. I go directly to my Paypal account and see what it is all about.

Just be careful if you have a Bank account linked to your Paypal account.

emails from paypal will always have paypal immediately after the @ in the email addy address bar at the top

The top addy is an example of a scam ie. @intl-

services@intl-paypal.com.au

The email addy below is a genuine item ie. @paypal

 member@paypal.com.au

It wasn't from Gumtree was it?  I received one yesterday telling me that edits were now free on Gumtree
