I am not sure that the NSW floods were the worst.....I have certainy known a lot worse and more widespread floods but they certainly were severe and unexpected.

The heat in Queensland is also worthy of comment too.....it is not helping the bushfire situation at all.

the floods were reported here as the worst on record, but the reporter may have exagerated. its known to happen, looked pretty nasty to me any how.

as do the fires, wish we took bushfires more seriously and spent the money on a team of them canadian super tanker water droping planes.

imagine if each state/territory bought 1, we'd have a team of 7 or 8 of them to call into action when we have these massive fires.

They are still busy in the USA.
this year is unusual in that the fire season is still happening in the States.
We only borrow them from the Yanks.

How does the Australian landscape recover after a bushfire?

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-12-06/fire-rejuvenation-for-queensland-bushland-after-bushfire/1058...

its the animals that really suffer, those not burnt to death have burns that untreated usually kill. those that survive, their habitat and food supply is gone.

Yes, it's always the animals that suffer.
We build roads, they die.
We build homes, they die.
We change the way the land is used, they die.
We need jobs, they die.
Then one day they'll all be gone and if karma is real then we should all die
