Mitigation and response to detected coronavirus infections is thankfully proving effective , but tends to be reactionary , so what is the situation in the wild ?

Undetected infections ? self recovered ? undetected asymptotic cases ? Who can say at this time.

A random sample of residents in one area might prove interesting and validate to an improved extent current successes , also reduce any surprises.

A representative population group of say 1000 people residing in the same suburb of Sydney , but not having any coronavirus interventions therein as per the immediate area

Notification of intent to test on a relaxed Saturday afternoon , door to door knock, voluntary only , id and address confirmed, $100 thanks for co-operation per person including children , to assist with re-prioritising activities and maintain enthusiasm for the project.

Sort of like a clinical double blind test - a baseline

Any pertinent comments ?

Yes.........ease up  on the alphabet spaghetti or at least chew it a little more.

What's the difference between an undetected infection? and an undetected asymptotic case ?

Double blind tests are used to test an item like a new medicine, spice, sausage roll, whatever anonymously ie neither the particpant nor

the experimenter knows who is receiving the tested item and who is receiving the placebo. It is used to prevent bias.

A randomly selected group of punters tested for a condition without establishing parameters is about as much use as teats on a bull re

baseline formation. ie A test is done in PC 2074 will not correlate to PC  5734

I'm with Pauline re your post...........Please explain?

The premise  that you so eloquently did not espouse is available here.

The testing has established a baseline and there is not a double blind in sight nor the three blind mice.

Those LGA's that have deviated upwards from the baseline are in line for a more rigorous testing egime

.....you're welcome ...in advance

an undetected infection - could be somebody who thinks they just have a cold or mild case of flu

an undetected asymptotic case - is somebody who has no symptoms but is infectious

Simplified syntax

Find out how effective mitigation has been by testing everyone within a city suburb on the same day as a representitive data set

never infected,

previously infected but not now

infected and shedding but showing no symptoms

infected and showing symptoms,

Deceased ( but unknown)
