Should DU in battle be outlawed?
I know that people try to justify it as it is heavy and can penetrate tank amour. I personally believe that it should be banned. What lingers can go on harming folks for what seems to be an almost indefinite time.

------------------------------------------------------------Why deadly depleted uranium is the tank buster's weapon of choice
The use of depleted uranium weapons is again causing concern. The people of Kosovo have been alarmed to discover that the conflict there has left radioactive contamination, just as it did in Kuwait nine years ago.
Why do the United States and Britain continue to use a waste product of the nuclear industry in their weapons? Some commentators allege that it is a conspiracy between the military and the nuclear industry to dispose of dangerous waste in hostile countries. The real reasons are more complex.
Metallic uranium occurs naturally in tiny quantities. In its native state it is a mixture of highly radioactive uranium-235 and less active U-238. U-235 is used in reactors and atomic weapons; once it is extracted, the rest is depleted uranium (DU). It is a poisonous heavy metal like lead or mercury, but only slightly radioactive.

Thoughts?

What does this have to do with "tank shells"?
on 08-03-2022 09:10 AM
Oh I thought you would have watched the clips or read the article. Anyway, Dr. Doug Rokke explains DU's use in tank shells. Quite horrific actually.

Well, it's quite obvious that certain country(s) have been putting DU into shells to pierce the armour of tanks. These are fired at tanks. It is explained in the clip with Doug Rokke. So what are your thoughts on this?
on 08-03-2022 09:51 AM
LOL - here we go again.
Doug Rokke is a crank and conspiracy theorist obsessed with depleted uranium conspiracy theories. He claims to have been a researcher and major with a Ph.D. in Health Physics in the 3rd U.S. Army Medical Command's Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical research team as a scientific expert on depleted uranium[1] The Department of Defense states he was helping administrate the US Army Chemical School on Fort McClellan (with a Ph.D. in Education Methodology) and logistical support for Army Munitions and Chemical Command (special equipment purchasing) until being fired.[2] Rokke's experience in physics, from his own admission during talks, comes from a BS in general physics and his office being located in the physics area while completing his doctorate. Rokke has also stated depleted uranium was completely unknown to him before 1991.[3]
Rokke appears to have become one of the number of people that went completely insane because of 9/11.[note 1] Rokke is currently an obstinate crank on depleted uranium, very frequently along side (or used as a reference of) Leuren Moret. Rokke frequently appears along side fringe elements of the anti-nuclear movement, including Alex Jones[4] and 9/11 conspiracy theorists.[5]
Rokke and Moret use a combination of credential bullying and lying to make their claims.
Where does he find this rubbish.

MPs have urged the government to give all necessary help to British soldiers who believe they may have fallen ill as a result of being exposed to depleted uranium.
Conservative MP Nicholas Soames urged ministers to take steps to ensure that "all effective steps" were being taken to ensure that depleted uranium weapons were safe.

There can't be any justification to use this kind of weapon.

Hmmm, hello ambercat16? Someone may have cherrypicked one to discredit this subject. There are many other articles about this issue. The BBC is one.
Please tell, what are your thoughts on this issue of DU use in war?
on 08-03-2022 12:51 PM
Of course there are - and possibly some a little more recent than 2001 & 2004.
War - is Russia using DU in Ukraine.??
On looking at the major & minor ongoing there's no mention at all of anyone using DU.
