Why?

I found that lately people refuse to send their address by email or ebay messages, saying that it is not safe, and insist on dictating over the phone.  I hate not having their address in writing on my computer so i can just copy and paste it into search to work out how to get there.  Not to mention when i cannot hear or understand the person too well over the phone.  I had everything from getting the number wrong to somebody spelling for me Jacana "G for George" (and yes he was an Ausie), and insisting it is G.

Where is the danger of emailing people your address?

Why?

Could it be hacking and "data retention" fears?  Bit like using a fax rather than email.   The call can be registered on data, but not the information within.

It appears as paranoia to me in the instance of E-bay , but....maybe they have something to hide?

Why?

None of the people could give me any genuine reason why, one said because they do not want ebay to have their address - I guess tey forgot that they already gave eBay their address.  But considering that 2 of them were all packed and moving within days, what does it matter who has their old address.
