A different word chain game

The first person gives the first word, the second person should use the last letter of the word as the first letter of his own word, the third person’s word is the same as the first letter of the previous person, and so on.

If the last person used the last letter as the beginning, then you need to give the word with the same initials as the previous person.Hope you can funny with this game.

The first word: start

I am truly uncertain what these rules mean.

Is it simply “Post a word that begins with the previous word’s last letter”?

I thought I had understood the beginning (use the last and the first letter of the previous poster's word alternatively as the first letter of your own word), although I am not sure, but the second sentence confused me too, or does it just confirms what was said in the first sentence (that after using the last letter, you will have to use the first letter)?

Well, shall we play this with the “last letter of previous word becomes first letter of new word” idea?

nicnacs, you posted “tried”.

So…

I think they mean we should use the last letter of the original poster's word, then the first letter of the next word, and so on - first and last letters alternately.

eg.  first - tried - tempo - other - only - young - yellow ......  and so on

going with that, since nicnacs used the last letter of countess' word, I'll use the same first letter as nicnacs.
