why does it go back to top of page when you closer into an item

Hi

I spoke to someone in the call centre in relation to an issue thats a real pain. And all i have been told is lessen the amount to search of 50 items. As follows this is what you have do and can this be changed on my setting I have looked without success.

When find an item I want to look at and open up further to have a closer look.

And when i return to the page I was looking at it returns to the top of the page.

So you have go back down the the item you were looking at and from where you left off.

Can there be anything that can be done that when you go back to the page it goes back to the place where you last looked and opened the item you opened up.

This is a real pain having to back to the top of the page everytime you look at an item and then returns to top of page each you look closer at an item.

So been told by customer service to lessen the amount on the  page to 50 is there any other option.

this used to happen and was great but now my experience with ebay is frustrating to say the least can you please help with this.
