The app has always been problematic.
Not much you can do about it.
As for the full site, there have been issues on categories and they often rectify themselves after some time.
I wouldn't be concerned with only 50 items, buyers have little need to search by category.
If I looked at a store with less than 100 items I would scroll through all of them to see if there is anything interesting.
