Winning bidder claims his son made the bid without his permission and now refuses to pay. How is situation normally resolved?

I also agree that you should wait the four days then open an unpaid item dispute, if they still don't pay close it 4 days later, get your fees back and the buyer gets a well deserved strike.
You can request a cancellation but why would you risk it? If they let others have access to their account then somebody may click the no button when asked if they agree and then you don't get your fees back, you get a defect, the buyer gets no sanction at all and can still leave feedback.
Don't forget to put them on your blocked bidders list right away.
