$3.85 Auction list fees?

I have an Ebay store and have not used all of my 1,500 listings for the month.

However, when I try to list an auction, it says at the bottom that I would be charged $3.85 listing fees.

The category I want to list in is Basketball Trading Cards.

Most of my items are between $5-$20, so the idea of paying $3.85 per auction is just ridiculous.  I can also see that there are a large number of other sellers (most of whom do not have ebay stores) and are listing items which are worth <$5.  Presumably they pay nothing or next to nothing.

How do I fix this?

Stores are for fixed price listings.  If you want to run auctions you have to pay for them.

The best way around it would be to open another ID and use the 40 free listings each month that all ordinary sellers get.

If you're listing under Collectables you should be able to do auctions without paying a listing fee. There are also other categories this applies to but they're very limited and you need to check out the help pages to see which categories pay fees for auctions and which don't.
