Australian Border Force Export Declaration Number (EDN)

Hello fellow eBay sellers.

Has anyone gone through the exercise of obtaining and Australian export number.

Australia Post has the following requirement to lodge a package valued above $2000

this quote below appears when trying to purchase postage.

“The total value of this parcel is over AUD 2000.”

“Because the total value of the contents of this parcel is over AUD 2000, you’ll need to supply an Export Declaration Number (EDN)

 – formerly known as an Export Clearance Number (ECN) – to continue.

For more information, please visit the Australian Border Force’s Export Declaration page.

Already got an EDN? Please enter it below:

Export Declaration Number (EDN)

(Please check your EDN carefully – entering an incorrect EDN may lead to delays in customs)

I have had a five-minute look at the Australian-border forces export declaration system and thought to myself, WOW.

Why does government make it so difficult to sell something to someone else.

Any update on this issue? And how did you go about it?

This issue just came up for me as I sold an item that went over AUD$2,000 via auction and the winning bidder is an overseas buyer.
