I am very sorry but to be covered by ebay or Paypal there needs to be something wrong with the item, not that you have failed to use it properly. Goods also have to be returned in the same state as received and obviously yours has been used wrongly.
I am sure you will be able to get someone to sort it out for you and show you the correct way to use it but I am afraid I am not willing to accept a return for an item which may or may not be in a useable condition.

I would also call ebay using the call me back option and tell them what is going on and to refer to the buyer's message where they admit it is their missuse of the system which is the problem and not a defect that was there when they received it.
