Could this be shill bidding?

Hi all, was bidding on an item and won it, but minutes before the auction ended, there were bid retractions made from a ''buyer'' who has 87% with the seller for the last 6 months. The total feedback score for the seller is around 60 positive, with only 20 for the last 6 months. Which means to me, that almost everything this seller had listed for the last 6 months, was bid on by this same ''buyer''?

I had my maximum bid in place days before, so it appears as though I was been pushed up the ladder by someone.

Re: Could this be shill bidding?

Yes, you are right and this is pretty much how I operate now.

I won't be caught out again.

But I think these days that if I did bid early (not likely), with a bit of to and fro bidding, and I very strongly suspected shilling when I later looked at the records, I would just refuse to go ahead with the purchase.

Re: Could this be shill bidding?

ebay should simply stop the retract bidding from happening.

If eBay had done so you would not have been able to retract your bids...nor would I when I had a fat finger episode.

Or do you mean it should only apply to others?
