Seller not able to fulfill item in time

Hi all,

What is the seller obligation to refund if the item listed is not available after the stated time frame.

Ie qe have paid for a oven to be picked up in 5 days and now have been informed that it will not be ready for, best case 1 week after that - or maybe longer.

We would prefer a refund but seller wants us to cover eBay's fee..

Any advice for us or them??

Many thanks

G

That is cheeky of the seller. Why are their fees any of your responsibility?

Supply chain issues are a problem everywhere, but if the seller does not have stock, they really should not have the item for sale. Period.

Seller just needs to cancel the transaction. By doing this, everything is refunded to you and their fee is credited back to them, except a 30c flagfall.

What is the estimated date range for delivery when you look at the transaction?

If the seller refuses to cancel, then wait until after the last delivery date in the range and open a dispute for "Item Not Received". This puts the onus on the seller to refund in full anyway. They really do not have much wriggle room.

Jellybird has said it all but I can't get over the cheek of the seller, expecting you to cover his ebay fees because he can't supply the goods.

You don't have to do that. You just tell him what jelly said, that he can cancel quite easily but you are not paying his fees, it was his responsibility to have the goods.

And just open an ebay claim if he refuses and you can't pick up by the estimated delivery date. Don't close your claim though no matter what the seller says, till you have that refund. Even if he says he has the oven, just say you'll close the case after pick up.
