The "item location" on the search function only shows items that are located in Australia. It does not mean that the seller is actually located in Australia.
Overseas companies can say in their ad that the item is located in Australia when in fact it is not.
It is shipped from overseas to say Melbourne (the item location on the ad) then shipped to the buyer.
Though this might be legal and within the policy & guidelines to me its deceptive. I think its false advertising as the item location is not Australia.
Please if you want to support Australian businesses please check the sellers profile to see their location.
Let see if Ebay stands by its policy & guidelines and keeps this post visable.

There are plenty of threads on the boards about deceptive item locations....why would ebay remove this one?
The filter is actually for items from sellers who sell to Australia, not sellers or items that are in Australia.
The advice given on the boards is always to check where the seller is registered before believing the item location in the listing.

Just about everything you purchase in this country is imported. We have very little manufacturing here these days. It would be nearly impossible to go to the local shopping centre and purchase all your needs and find they all came from Australia. You are supporting local aussie businesses by buying from them but does not mean they are coming originally from Oz.
