Why is it that many listing include many descriptions even though they are not it?

When searching it has become apparent that many sellers are including too many descriptions in their postings.  Eg. When searching for a blouse, tank tops are listed. Or when searching for a dress, lingerie are listed.  It takes far too long to search through when this happens.

I think some sellers try to whack in as many terms they think people might search for as they can, so that their item will come up to be viewed.

And yes, it can get a bit frustrating. Try looking at parker furniture sometimes and you will get a whole string of items with titles that include Danish/Eames/Parker/chiswell/retro era and it can turn out that the item isn't Parker,Eames or chiswell at all, just looks like something from that era.

I can understand the need for sellers to get their ads seen but it would be good if they could try to restrict it a bit to terms that are relevant to the item!

Its called KEYWORD SPAMMING and is against ebay policy. You can report sellers that continue to do this.

Ah yes Eames....

If you took the descriptions at face value there may be more Eames stuff on eBay than was ever manufactured. Smiley Wink
