Why is the "item location" listed as being in Australia allowed, when the product comes from oversea

Is it not false advertising, when a product is listed as being in Australia, when it arrives from ovseas?

When selecting Australia only in searches they are the seller's that will send to Australia.

In a listing if an item location is incorrectly stated, some sellers have a warehouse here and may be O.O.S. hence supplied from O.S.

But many Asian sellers lie about item location and you can warn others in your feedback.

Always look at the registration of the eBay account before buying by clicking on their eBay ID.

Also check feedback as there will usually be comments warning items take a long time and are sent from O.S.

eBay Australia can't / won't do anything about sellers in China who do this

BUT if people would stop buying, buying, buying off such sellers (and hence keeping them in business) it would be far less of an issue

Very easy to check the seller's feedback before buying (which not only shows if they a bad sellers/lie about where they send from) the same page shows where the seller is registered

Such as the last one to leave you feedback is in China and has questionable feedback, not a seller I would want to give my money to

Buyers also need to be aware that in the current world wide situation, advertised items on eBay such as face masks and hand wash,  isopropyl ( rubbing alcohol) are scammers who have compromised Sellers accounts and indeed these items are not available

Whilst there is currently price gouging going on, these items selling too cheaply should also ring alarm bells.

These scammers seem to be hacking the accounts of chinese Sellers who's accounts have been inactive for sometime....at least that is the pattern I am seeing.

I purchased some face masks on the weekend for which eBay have now removed the listing so I now have a 10 day wait before hopefully applying for a refund.

Buyer beware.

@jaydee5303,

If an item arrives from China and the location is listed as somewhere within Australia, the logical view (and the view that I hold) is that this is item location misrepresentation.

In eBay's eyes (and in the eyes of many sellers throughout Australia, outside the eBay environment), this is Just in Time Fulfilment. You can read about it here.

It is perhaps the inevitable result of global trading and certainly of outsourcing, and has led to the enormous decline in manufacturing in Australia, which I think a great pity and a shortsighted economic and business approach in the long term.

Proof?

Unless it's changed recently, if a seller posts on eBay.au the item will show as Australian.

Try looking at books. Pick a title. At the head of the list of 'Australian' sellers will be multiples of the same title from Pommie sellers. Then there will be listings from actual Australian sellers who don't sell for less than postage. If there a few enough 'Australian' listings there will be a section underneath that that details listings of international sellers who will post to Australia.

Calm down. If you'll care to look at the wording, you'll realise I am indeed correct. Highlighted in red - posts 'to' Australia. Think about that now
