Chinese box shanton, how to describe

Hi, hope someone can help me with a description for this little box. I would think it might be small sticks of bamboo done in a parquetry kind of pattern. I am not sure if that is an accurate description. The girl is made from what looks like different pieces of shell. Can anyone name this technique? The face seems to be made of hard plastic. I am thinking this us from the 50s or 60s. Any other ideas? It measures 20 x 11.5 x 5 cm. inside is lined with silver paper. Lid has rim and separates completely. I would appreciate ideas on description, any knowledge of item or worth.

I think I would be hoping for a possible kitsch appeal?

"60s Kitsch Oriental Shell Art Trinket Box" ????

It looks to me a basic tourist piece from that era, imitating the sort of more sophisticated (and expensive) coloured shell inlay work, which was seen on lacquer boxes. It is rather an odd shape - maybe it originally held a set of chop sticks?

Thanks for your response. That sounds like a good angle.
