Have to be very carefully claiming its 1880s as there are many copies around today. If it is 1880s then yes it could be called Victorian as the dates are correct, but strickly speaking Victorian should only apply to items made in the British commonwealth during that time. Other countries have different terms for this period.

it looks like a Merryweather helmet, its more a case of being sure of its provenance. if you know some of it's history it helps, and i'm guessing you do . it's probably post 1868 and authentic from what i can see.

but read the last link. it says ''well into the 20th century '' and as Bsal says they were reproduced in places like india and ceylon (sri lanka) as they often used the sane helmets originially . see if it has any numbers names or marks..
