Is there no backstamp because it certainly appears commercial to me?

I'd personally call it a ceramic dish with an Australian Aboriginal motif.

Without a backstamp / sticker, it's very difficult to determine a maker. These were sold, mostly asTourist Pieces. Florenz, Studio Anna, just to name a couple. To me, it looks like an unsigned Florenz Piece. ๐Ÿ™‚  Very Difficult though to name with certanty.

I think it reads,

Corroboree

Australia

Peggy James.

There is reference to Peggy James in Geoff Ford's Encyclopaedia of Australian Potter's Marks, 2nd edition.

James, Peggy.  Limited information at this time.  She made slip cast dishes, bowls, vases, etc., decorated with Aboriginal motifs.  Mid 1950's - early 1960's.
