Another peanut dies in flood waters

Why are people so lacking in simple logic to not drive across flooded bridges.
Police yesterday practically begged people to find another route home or excise patience and under no circumstances drive through water.
Bureau of meteorology issued a warning about the heavy rainfall that was to occur in NSW and that there was likely to be flash flooding.
I feel for the family of this latest victim of his own stupidity but have no sympathy for him

its obvious the 'she'll be right mate' syndrome.

and if you were to say to the 'peanut' dont do it you would most likely get a mouthfull of abuse and told where to go.

Its not 'simple logic' they lack, its common sense, or experience.

Then theres those who panic, or worse, think they know better.

Remarkable to hear he was 72,could not swim and had actualy got out and was clinging to a tree when bystanders encouraged him to try and swim across the river to safely.

More than one fool involved  by the sounds of it

all to common tragedy. ...

i just had a brilliant idea, bottles of 'emergency common sense'

I agree Liion, but that saddest part is it could so easily have been avoided.

Heed the warnings, I have had experience flash flooding, and the power of water is an unbelievable force to be reckoned with. The warnings are there to be heeded, but as said in posts above, many are of the opinion 'it won't happen to me' or 'I can do it'..........

I feel sorry for his friends and family, thats a given.

But I also feel for the Police, SES volunteers and rescue crews when these situations occur..They often are expected to risk their lives because of someone elses stupidity, lack of common sense or recklessness.
