A real monster to be sure.
Not condoning any of his behaviour, but I came across an article on his early childhood.
I'm not surprised he ended up the way he did.
In 1967,he begged them to let him stay in jail. They should have kept him.
Worth a read, if you care to -

Whether he was evil, mad or a mistake of nature, I can't help thinking the world is a better place now.

Exactly.
It's people like Manson who make me realise why mortality is a necessity for the human race. It's devastating when you lose someone close to you & it means we do lose a lot of exceptionally good humans. But at the same time, the world isn't stuck with the likes of Manson or Hitler etc for eternity.
Everyone gets one chance & unfortunately Manson didn't leave the world a better or kinder place for having passed through.

Someone on Facebook commented that it was too bad Manson died before Trump could give him a cabinet post.

He should have died in the electric chair a long time ago.
