As it's more than 100 days now, it has been suggested that a new thread was needed. The current govt has been breaking promises and telling lies at a rate so fast it's hard to keep up.
This below is worrying, "independent" pffft, as if your own doctor is somehow what? biased, it's ridiculous. So far there is talk of only including people under a certain age 30-35, for now. Remember that if your injured in a car, injured at work or get ill, you too might need to go on the DSP. They have done a similar think in the UK with devastating consequences.
and this is the 2nd time recently where the Govt has referred to work as welfare???? So when you go to work tomorrow (or tuesday), just remember that's welfare.

Independent doctors could be called in to reassess disability pensioners, Federal Government says
The Federal Government is considering using independent doctors to examine disability pensioners and assess whether they should continue to receive payments.
Currently family doctors provide reports supporting claims for the Disability Support Pension (DSP).
But Social Services Minister Kevin Andrews is considering a measure that would see independent doctors reassess eligibility.
"We are concerned that where people can work, the best form of welfare is work," Mr Andrews said at a press conference.

Will our government act on this?
Global warming is still with us: 2014 was Earth's hottest year since records began in 1880, according to two separate analyses from NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration:

Treasurer Joe Hockey demands crackdown on corporate tax avoidance
Multinational corporations that use complicated schemes to avoid paying tax in Australia are set to be targeted, with Treasurer Joe Hockey demanding the Commissioner of Taxation "double his efforts".
Mr Hockey has also warned Australians with offshore investments to once again disclose their unreported foreign income to tax authorities before the end of the year if they want to avoid serious punishment.
On Thursday morning, the Treasurer delivered a statement to Parliament on the upcoming G20 global finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Cairns this month, outlining the Abbott government's plans to prevent global companies from using "aggressive tax planning" to shift untaxed profits overseas.
He said the Abbott government would not "stand idly by" and allow multinational corporations to avoid paying their fair share of tax in Australia, warning that he has asked the Tax Commissioner to undertake "extensive audits" of companies "considered a risk to Australian tax collections".

Hockey backflips on tax laws to target multinational profit shifters
Treasurer Joe Hockey has broken a pledge to impose tough new tax avoidance rules on multinational companies that shift billions of dollars in profits between Australia and their international subsidiaries.
"When some taxpayers avoid or minimise their tax in a sustained way, the tax burden eventually falls more heavily on other taxpayers," a Treasury issues paper found at the time.

Queensland election 2014: LNP targets young voters with free degrees, licences
Free university degrees and complimentary licences for well-behaved drivers will be offered by a re-elected Liberal National Party (LNP) government.
The party will officially launch its campaign today with new policies to entice younger voters.
About 500 taxpayer-funded teaching degrees are set to be offered, and drivers under 25 will receive a free three-year licence if they complete their probationary time without incurring demerit points.
The party will also pledge to build up to 22 new schools.
The cost of the new initiatives is yet to be revealed, but Mr Newman said the schools would be funded out of the $1 billion Strong Choices program.

There is going to be an inquiry into the way BOM are massaging the figures, homogenising historic data.
I refuse to hop aboard the "global warming" religion. What I think is great though is the direct action taken, the practical measures and the cleaning up of our environment.
What I objected to was a tax on everything, it raised practically no money and didn't do a thing to reduce anything. It was a complete failure.
All it did was make everything more expensive, what it was designed to do, to punish people, to hurt families. It was a Green driven ideology Miss Gillard had to bend over for to form minority government, unfortunately the whole of Australia had to bend over with her.
