Body surfs?

Now he has a received a long board though, as a gift  from his new 'best mate' (and the people of Australia).

I play guitar, I couldn't possibly imagine giving some one a guitar as a gift if they didn't play one. Maybe a publicity stunt?

Did you guys see the board though?

when you think about it, the long board is a bit iconic of Australia. Way better than a stuffed koala etc IMO anyway. That'd be tacky.

And for an older person, if they intend to use it rather than display it, much more practical than other boards.

Surf life saving is an iconic feature of Australian Identity, and it is also prevalent in the USA. so it's not such an out of the box gesture.

Spose they could have given him an Akubra or a bunch of wattle stuffed in a vegemite jar

The board was custom made, and includes the presidential seal and both flags

I don't think it's meant to be used - think its more like one of those signed football jerseys mounted behind glass. just displayed

Maybe a better gift would have been him knitting him a jumper and having his picture taken whilst doing it.....

or maybe a basket of jams and mustards, eh?

A gift fit for a president
