It sounds as though all on board have been lost, five people ....

Give me some time to take this all in.
It's as though I woke from a dream, and I'm still dreaming.
None of this has yet begun to make sense.

They are investigating possible catastrophic engine failure just after take off,(the pilot issued a mayday and
went to return to the airport).
The DFO and other stores are in a shopping centre that is built in close proximity to the end of one of the
runways,

from all that i have seen i think the pilot did a magnificent job to crash the plane where no one other than those on board died.
this sad event could have been so much worse.
its also the worst possible end to what was prolly going to be a very enjoyable day for those who lost their lives, i hope suffering was very short. the problem is when planes stop working you cant just pull over and call for help.
i sometimes think we treat flying so lightly these days, its still extremely dangerous.

Tell me about it.
I have been to the US 4 times in the past 18 months.
I swear I leave teeth marks in the seat in front - both taking off & landing.

terrible accident that. sorry for the loss of life but it's just lucky that it wasn't a bit later in the day when the DFO would've been packed with shoppers and how lucky were the staff in the Spotlight store?
housing etc. is now too built up around that airport
