Has Bill shot himself in the foot?

After riding high on the liberal coaltion self destruction campaight i dont get why Bill Shorten would decide to kick an own goal now.

a very poorly thought out idea to anounce a strategy that seems to attack pensioners as a side effect.

Bill should have waited to be elected before doing this sort of carp, at least then he has a few years to get people to forget it.

Lib/Nats must be so happy right now, finally something they can attack labor with.

Politics aside, the idea is just wrong. The whole idea of the cash refunds is that the tax on the dividends has already been paid by the company. The shareholders own a tiny piece of the company and so their share of profits should be taxed at the shareholders marginal tax rate. If that is zero, due to low income, they are perfectly entitled to the refunds in exactly the same way rich people claim tax paid on the dividends against their liabilities.

Abolishing the scheme will hit small business owners and farmers particularly hard as they dont have the luxury of a lifetime of employer funded superanuation payments. All they have is what they manage to scrimp and save of their own accord, often through investments in shares.

Maybe that is why Labor have gone down this path. Just another attack on those doing it by themselves without the involvement of the state and unions.

THE RICH GET RICHER, while the retired farmers and small business owners cop another kick in the guts for having the audacity to run their own businesses instead of providing labour for the state and its few special friends like they should.

SOCIALISIM AT ITS BEST. !!!
