How big is too big to fit in a normal airline seat ?

Just curious. As someone I knew from school years ago had to travel first class to fit.

So, with economy domestic or international

How big is too big these days ?

To 1. Physically fit into a seat ?

2. When to use a seatbelt extender ?

It's cheaper to buy two seats than 1st class.

It will vary. Different planes can have different seats in economy and that goes for leg room as well as width.

Economy airline seats aren't very wide. I have sat beside an overweight person whose body has spilled over into my seat.

If a passenger fits in the seat comfortably but the seatbelt isn't wide enough to go around them, then they would request a seatbelt extender.

We flew Tiger yesterday. My OH has a twisted hip so needs a longer belt. They just gave him an extension and problem fixed.
