Would've been to hell and back in his lifetime.

Agreed.
I am still amazed at some aspects of that case.
There was no body, no confession, yet lindy Chamberlain was sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour.
We have several criminals who are definite multiple murderers without any doubt, yet they don't get sentences that harsh.
It put paid to Michael Chamberlain's career, his marriage and would have caused incredible stress.
Did they ever receive decent compensation from the govt?

He had such a sad life - his 2nd wife had a massive stroke
about 5yrs ago which left him caring for her as well.

Lindy Chamberlain was sentenced at a time when the punishments were more realistic.....it is just a pitythat they did not get the verdict right in the first pace.
And yes, they did receive compensation, reported to be $1.3 million between them....grossly inadequate IMO.
